PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.

How to Earn your Scuba Diving Certification

Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology (either offline or online), then learn basic scuba skills in a pool (or pool-like environment) with a highly trained PADI Instructor. When you're ready, make four dives in an open water environment (the ocean, a lake) with your instructor supporting you every step of the way.

With Your Instructor

Practice using scuba gear in a pool (or pool-like environment) until you're comfortable. PADI training includes practice "mini dives" to help you build confidence in your new abilities before making four dives in open water.
  • Prerequisites: Able to swim; medically fit for diving
  • Total time commitment: 4-7 days
  • Minimum age: 10 years or older
  • Depth: expect shallow dives (12m/40ft), the maximum allowed depth is 18m/60ft

Unlike wetsuits, drysuits are filled with air. During your drysuit course, your instructor will teach you how to control the air in your drysuit along with your buoyancy.

You'll also learn about different types of drysuits, basic drysuit repairs and maintenance

 

What's included in this course:

How to Start Drysuit Diving

During one pool session and two open water dives, you'll learn how to comfortably and confidently dive in a drysuit. An experienced instructor will help you dial in your buoyancy and shorten the learning curve

AT THE DIVE SHOP

With Your Instructor

You'll practice taking your drysuit on and off, determine how much weight you need, and master basic drysuit skills in a pool before making two open water dives.
  • Prerequisites: PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level certification)
  • Total time commitment: 2-3 days
  • Minimum age: 10 years or older

 

Open Water Section:


  • Minimum age for this course is 12yrs
  • You will get two PADI e-learning crew packs (Open Water & Drysuit)
  • All of the e-learning Course to be completed prior to the classroom (if help is required please ask)                                                       
  • A day in the classroom where you will complete some quick quizzes and we will go through the knowledge reviews
  1. Learn how to put the scuba gear together and how it works     
  2. Practice the basic underwater hand signalling for diving
  3. Practice using an underwater compass (on land)
  4. Practice using a dive computer
  5. Learn about Drysuit fitting, donning and maintenance         

                                                                                                 

There are four swimming pool sessions, where you will complete various skills to prepare you for the open water and drysuit training.

Following this you will undertake two fantastic days of diving, where you will complete five open water dives with some skills to complete your course.

When the course is completed you will be able to dive to a maximum depth of 18m with a drysuit

Use of scuba kit and drysuit is included on this course.
